Deine Aufgaben

  • Conduct high-quality research on choice with costly learning
  • Advance your own independent research agenda
  • Contribute to project activities, including theory development, running experiments, data evaluation, and drafting academic papers
  • Support teaching initiatives and help organize occasional workshops
  • Participate in seminars, provide feedback on research, and help prepare grant proposals
  • Regularly be present at the department in St. Gallen

Project objectives include:

  • Design and deploy experimental protocols to measure perceived learning costs
  • Implement protocols in choice experiments (online and in the lab) to identify key features of learning costs
  • Compare perceived versus experienced learning costs to uncover biases
  • Develop numeric algorithms for optimal rational inattentive choice across learning cost functions
  • Simulate behavioral impacts of different cost functions and compare with documented behavior patterns
  • Identify how risk attitudes influence incentives to learn

Was du mitbringst

  • Master's degree (completed or near completion) in Economics or Mathematics
  • Strong background in experimental economics, numerical methods, and/or economic theory
  • Enthusiasm and ambition for high-quality research
  • Hands-on experience with designing and running experiments (lab, online, or field) is highly desirable
  • Ability to work independently, think creatively, and collaborate in a team
  • Effective written and verbal English communication and time management skills
